Green Party of Canada to hold its policy convention this month
OTTAWA –The Green momentum building-up across the country reaches a crescendo in Vancouver September 28-30 when the Green Party of Canada’s holds its biennial convention. Along with policy discussions and training opportunities for members, the convention features a great lineup of inspiring speakers.
Canadian political scientist and ecologist Thomas Homer-Dixon, author of seminal works such as The Upside of Down and The Ingenuity Gap, on how we need to take an honest and courageous look at our future and what are realistic steps forward.
Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, president of the Union of B.C. Indian Chiefs, on his fight against the Trans Mountain pipeline and the pivotal work of Indigenous peoples.
Municipal, provincial, federal and international Green leaders and MPs share their experiences. They include Caroline Lucas (U.K. Greens), Gareth Hughes (New Zealand), Mike Schreiner (Ontario), David Coon (New Brunswick), Peter Bevan-Baker (P.E.I.), Sonia Furstenau (B.C.), Adam Olsen (B.C.) and Vancouver city councillor Adriane Carr.
Laurie Embree, jailed for protesting the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion, will explain why she chose civil disobedience.
